Chenango’s 6th Annual Dairy Day set for June 17

NORWICH – Mark your calendars and plan to attend Chenango County’s 6th Annual Dairy Day Celebration planned for Saturday, June 17 in the City of Norwich. This event has become an annual tradition to celebrate the history and importance of agriculture in Chenango County.

The Celebration begins with a parade starting at 11am at the P&C Parking Lot on East Main Street. The parade is filled with community groups, local bands, farm equipment, milk trucks and animals. The parade leads to the Chenango County Fairgrounds where Exhibition Hall is filled with activities. Some of the excitement planned for this year includes, antique tractor balancing, pedal tractor pulls, butter and ice cream making, and a milk mustache photo shoot. Come and learn how milk gets from the cow to your table. Entertainment will also include a puppet show sponsored by Chenango County Farm Bureau and oxen teams and pony rides. The Chenango County Historical Society will provide displays of Chenango County Century Dairy Farms, the original 1941 All American Dairy Day along with antique farm and dairy implements.

It’s not to late to get involved! The Dairy Day Committee is still looking for displays from community groups and especially from local farms to share their farm history or sell farm products. If your group would like to participate in the Dairy Day Parade this is still time to sign up. Contact Janet Pfromm at 334-5841 x 12 for more information on how to get involved.
