Senate hopeful stumps in Norwich

NORWICH – Slamming his incumbent opponent and listing reasons for entering the race for the 52nd State Senatorial District, Mark Trabucco, D-Owego, introduced himself to Chenango County on Tuesday.
With a morning press conference in front of the Chenango County Courthouse, Trabucco, the long-time operator of Joe Trabucco Chevrolet in Owego, told why he thinks there is a need to replace current Binghamton Republican Sen. Thomas W. Libous.
Trabucco linked part of his displeasure with Libous to the senator’s support of an entertainment authority that he believes could affect Chenango and Tioga counties negatively. He said an entertainment authority as proposed by Libous would have the authority to control large tourist attractions that are not centered around Binghamton, and such powers could have a potential effect on the Tioga Downs Raceway and the proposed Alteren Resort in Norwich. He said in both cases, the entertainment authority would have the ability to take over operations, making them state-guided venues.
