McDonough gears up for firemen’s convention
McDONOUGH - Firefighters, families and those just looking for a good country bazaar will be in McDonough this weekend, as the 84th Annual Chenango County Firefighters’ Convention kicks-off Friday evening.
“Chenango County has had one for as long as I can remember and we’ve done a lot to make it our own this year,” McDonough Fire Chief Michael Beckwith said.
Events will start at 6 p.m. Friday at the McDonough Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held for fallen firefighters. An awards dinner will be held the following hour at the fire station, where the firefighter of the year will be honored by Senator Thomas W. Libous.
