NHS dedicates yearbook to Susan Fertig

NORWICH – Norwich High School social studies teacher Susan Fertig was honored with a great surprise this year, leaving her with ultimately nothing to say.
The teacher of 13 years was nominated by the senior class of 2006 “almost unanimously,” senior Leanne Willams said, to have the 2005-06 yearbook dedicated in her name.
“For once in my life, I was speechless,” Fertig said after her name was called in a filled auditorium.
Williams said Fertig was the perfect choice for this dedication.
“She had a lot to do with our class,” the year book co-editor said. “She’s been really involved with everything that we do.”
Senior Chase Dragoon agreed.
“The reason I voted for her was because she’s an amazing teacher,” he said. “She’s someone I can talk to on a personal level, and someone who relates to the students on a personal level. She is definitely someone I will stop in and say ‘hi’ to (after graduation.)”
