Hamilton gears up for summer music series
HAMILTON – Six bands, six weeks, and many hours of melodious fun. July 13 through Aug. 17, the Earlville Opera house is thrilled to co-present with the Village of Hamilton six Thursday night concerts on the Hamilton Village Green.
Hamilton local, Chris White, opens the series on July 13th with his light-hearted musical blend of jazz, folk, and comedy. Winner of the Young Musician’s Contest at the Hamilton Music Mix in 2004, Chris’s music is honest and witty. He has written over two hundred songs and is both an accomplished singer and a talented guitarist, capable of playing in a variety of different styles. Chris White is most well known for his one-man shows, and it is difficult to imagine a solo act creating more entertainment with just one man and a guitar. As one of the funniest emerging folk artists of our time, Chris White will deliver an evening packed with humor, insight and melody.
The rest of the series promises to be exciting, enjoyable, and not to be missed. On July 20, the Lonesome Sisters come to Hamilton. Singer/Songwriters Sarah Hawker and Debra Clifford are old time country and mountain harmonies at their best. On July 27, Regi Carpenter’s Soaring Stories flies into town. Award-winning storyteller, Regi Carpenter, creates a performance of words, music, and imagination that children and adults will never forget. The Sonny and Perley Trio arrives on Aug. 3 for an enchanting performance of “Fascinating Rhythms-The Music of Gershwin and Ellington,” highlighting the music of these great American composers. On Aug.10, the Hamilton Village Series welcomes Cornbred, New York State’s only All Native American Blues Band. This entertaining quintet is fast becoming known for their addicting tunes and unique style. Finishing up the series on Aug.17 is Pipeline, from Ireland. Seasoned performers Dermot Hyde and Tom Hake mix the old with the new as they perform traditional and contemporary Celtic music, varying from slower ballads to rocking dance music.
The Hamilton Village Music Series begins on July 13 and runs every Thursday until Aug. 17. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. on the Hamilton Village Green. Rain Location is the Barge Canal Coffee House. No tickets necessary for this free event. This series is funded by the Village of Hamilton, and was made possible in part with funds from the Art Creating Community Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered by the Central NY Community Arts Council, Inc. and co-presented by EOH.
