Music & Lunch in the Park begins Wednesday
NORWICH – The City of Norwich Business Improvement District is offering to make a few of your Wednesday lunch hours a little less hot and hectic this summer, and a little more relieving and enjoyable.
The BID is putting on its annual Lunch & Music in the Park 2006 Summer Concert Series, and Director Pegi LoPresti said this year’s musicians compliment the simple pleasures of summer that most busy working people regrettably neglect during the week.
“We are pleased to present the 2006 Lunch and Music in the Park Summer Concert Series,” LoPresti said. “We encourage the general public to grab a bag lunch and join us for an hour of lunchtime entertainment.”
This year’s event sponsors include NBT Bank, Service Pharmacy, Frontier Communications, and The Pennysaver/Evening Sun.
The music will run from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays starting July 19, when the series kicks off with “Almost Awake,” a duo who performs all original acoustic music. July 26 will showcase the string quartet “Triple Threat,” Aug. 2 will be the folk inspired band, “The Tweedlers,” and the final hour on Aug. 9 will feature the “Red Raville Group,” which performs in a number of genres including the golden oldies, latin and light rock.
LoPresti added that the usual Wednesday Farmer’s Market will extend its morning hours to continue on during the show time, offering another good outlet to experience the delights of the local summer season.
Any shows postponed by rain will be rescheduled for the following day, which will always be a Thursday.
