NFD opens doors for Fire Prevention Week

NORWICH – The Norwich Fire Department opened its doors to the public Thursday evening. This week is Fire Prevention Week and fire departments across Chenango have been hosting events and inviting local residents to get to know the men who may save their lives one day. All the fire departments in Chenango County rely heavily on volunteers. Fire Prevention Week not only serves to promote fire safety and awareness but to also reminds the community of just how valuable a public resource the departments are.

Interim Norwich Fire Chief Joseph Angelino said, “It’s great for the firefighters’ families and friends to come in and see what they do, especially the volunteers who are seldom seen unless needed.”
