Cyclones win two of three in playoffs
CHITENANGO – The Cyclones’ “B” team remained undefeated beating Oneida 6-0 in Chittenango.
Gran tBrightman took it to paydirt with 13 seconds remaining in the game from two yards ou tto break a 0-0 tie, and avert overtime. Brightman scored through Cassie Sutton’s blocking.
A 35-yard pass from Nate Ashton to Brad Bishop set up the Cyclones at the Oneida 18. The Indians held inside the 10; a fumble recovery by the Cyclones at the six by Paul Wonka set up the winning touchdown.

The Cyclones penetrated to the Lakers’ 10 in the second quarter, only to fumble, and got to the 5 in the fourth,The highly anticipated matchup between two of the best C teams upstate was marred by excessive penalties called on both sides. Michael Sutton had two long pass plays to Jordan Lockwood, with two more negated by penalties. Jaden McCrabie led the Cyclones’ ground attack. Brooke Bonney, Michael Oralls, Sutton,Tristan Rivanburg, Matt Murray, Killian Benedict, John Marvin, and McCrabie led the Cyclones defense – the stingiest in the history of the Cyclones. The Norwich “A” team finished its season at Alumni Field with a 28-6 thumping of New Hartford.
Dennis Oralls started Cyclones scoring with a one-yard sneak in the first quarter. Oralls hit Dallas Moryl on a 31-yard pass play in the second. Mackay Hotaling scored on a 20-yard scamper in the third, with Eric Walling adding an 11-yard TD run, also in the third. Walling also added two two-point P.A.T. kicks. On defense, Jonathan Foulds, Teddy Jerome, Morgan Crawford, Brett Saroka, Walling,CJ LoPresti, Hotaling, Roderick Brown and Alex Cunningham played big D with GradyThompson coming up with an interception.
The Cyclones’ banquets are scheduled for January 5th for C team, January 6th for A team, and January 7th for B team, all held at the Canasawacta Country Club.
