GREENE – Barb Borst hit four three-pointers on four straight possessions in the second quarter to break open a tight game in Greene’s opening-game victory over Walton Wednesday.
The Trojans scored all 15 of their second-quarter points on three balls – Jessica Smith had the other basket – and Smith scored six more points in the third quarter. “I was pleasantly surprised with this game to say the least,” said Greene head coach Bill Case. “I was glad our first game was at home. They had already played one game this season, and I was worried about that.”
Borst had a team-high 18 points, Smith added 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. As a team, the Trojans (1-0) were 8-for-14 from beyond the three-point arc. Liz Wentlent tacked on 11 markers.
Greene plays at B-G Tuesday.

STAMFORD – G-MU made it look easy scoring the first 18 points and pouring in 43 points in the first half to rout Stamford Tuesday.
Brittney Rudnitsky scored 10 points in the first quarter, and was one of three G-MU players in double figures. Danielle Conway scored 15, Ashlea Osborne came off the bench to net 13 points, and Rudnitsky finished with 12. “Not a lot went wrong in this game,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson. “You have to enjoy winning the game, but you don’t enjoy beating a team like that (by 50 points).”
The Raiders host Franklin Dec. 5.
