Morrisville plans open house
NORWICH – The public will have the opportunity to join Morrisville State College Norwich Branch Campus students, alumni, faculty and staff in a county-wide celebration of the season at its first holiday open house celebration.
The open house is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Roger W. Follett Hall on 20 Conkey Ave.
The event focuses on connecting and re-connecting students, alumni, friends and family with each other and with faculty and staff. Surrounded by an array of classical and seasonal music by Candlelight String Quartet, the public can come and enjoy for free, as the event is sponsored by Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals.
A selection of holiday treats by area caterers was selected for the occasion. Participating caterers included are Fox Run, Parson’s Daughter, The Coffee Connection, Morrisville’s Nelson Farms Country Store, Chef Frederick and Howard Johnson’s.
The Student Government Organization (SGO) is going to cover part of the cost for the event and representatives from SGO and Phi Theta Kappa, the National Academic Honor Society, are helping to decorate and will be welcoming guests and assisting with campus tours.
P&G has provided Morrisville State College with generous annual grants in years past. The funds have enabled the college to offer special events such as the “International Lunch and Learn” series, last year’s “Writer’s Workshop” on the Grace Brown tragedy and now this holiday event.
“This open house is something we wanted to do this year to say thank you to the many friends and organizations who have supported us in our move to Roger W. Follett Hall,” Norwich Campus Dean Ted Nichols said.
This is not an admissions event, so there are no workshops or presentations. “The Holiday Open House is intended to celebrate the unique and wonderful community of learning we have here in Chenango County,” Nichols said.
