Oxford Garden Club decks out library

OXFORD – The Oxford Garden Club (OGC) has “decked the halls” of the Oxford Memorial Library with pine swags and holiday decorations. The beautiful and historic Theodore Burr house has been appropriately bedecked with ribbons, fruit, wrapped presents, nutcrackers and lots of traditional, opulent ornamentation suggestive of the Victorian era.
If you are in the Fort Hill Park area, have a look, especially in the Children’s Reading room. Perfect for story time or to spark young imaginations, there’s a small Christmas tree in the window seat, attended by teddy bears, and a mantle filled with colorful nutcrackers of all sizes. Leading to the upstairs, the dramatic spiral staircase is accented with a magnificent swag thick with fruit, berries, pine cones and ribbons. You’ll see holiday decorations all over the library thanks to the Oxford Garden Club who volunteer their time every year to this project and others around Oxford making it a beautiful place to live.
The Oxford Garden Club is an award winning member of the Federated Garden Clubs of America, and sponsors a junior garden club. The club’s purpose is to promote gardening, encourage home and community beautification, promote horticultural practices and encourage all forms of conservation. The OGC invites you to join them in serving the community. For more information, contact Jeanne Cline, OGC president, at 843-6278.
