Plymouth Fire Dept. awarded grant
PLYMOUTH – Senator Charles E. Schumer announced Thursday that the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department will receive $63,294 as part of a federal grant. The money is part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The Plymouth department will use these funds to help improve operations and safety. This is part of a larger $291,311 grant given to the Southern Tier. Two other fire departments also received aid – the Otego Volunteer Fire Department in Otsego County and the Trumansburg Fire Company in Tompkins County.
“We can never truly repay our firefighters and first responders for their heroic efforts and dedication to duty. However, we can ensure that they have the training, equipment and resources they need to do their job well,” said Schumer.
