'Red Hat' ladies converge on Oxford
OXFORD – Some people in Oxford were “seeing red” on Thursday – Red Hat Ladies that is! Representatives from three society chapters of “Red Hatters” met on Jan. 11 at the NYS Veterans’ Home: the “Oxie Dolls” of Oxford; the “Red Hat Mamas of Morrisville;” and the veterans’ own group, the “Red Hat Rollers.”
The Oxie Dolls visiting the Vets’ Home were: Roberta Knoll, Betty Kulakowski, Betty Brown, Jeanne Cline, Jean Rogers, Phyllis Jackson and Anne Jackson. Also visiting the “Red Hat Rollers” was Janet Episcopol, the “Queen Mother” of the “Red Hat Mamas of Morrisville.” Janet actually sponsored the “Red Hat Rollers.”
The phenomenon that is the Red Hat Society (RHS) is due to the social organization’s incredible popularity and the great enthusiasm behind it. The group appeals to women of all walks of life where there is fun after 50. (Before age 50 are known as “Pink Hats”).
