Valentine gifts come from the heart

Through snow, and rain and dark of night ... blah, blah, blah. The point is the postal carriers have to work today, and so too do we at The Evening Sun. You teachers and students and everyone else who has the day off today really have a good thing going here. I might have to get in on that.

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day, and what better way to spend it than trapped, I mean snuggled in a cozy warm house with the one you love. Of course that’s not how I’ll be spending my day, and I’m sure many of you won’t be spending yours that way either.

I’m usually a procrastinator, but for Valentine’s Day, I managed to plan ahead, and I’ve never been happier that I did (not that it really matters since my husband won’t be home until Friday). But as I shoveled mountains of snow from my driveway this morning, I started thinking about the hundreds of people who probably had procrastinated and were now stranded without a gift. If you are that type, you probably put off the gift buying until the absolute last minute, and are now in a bind. Do you brave the fearsome weather to travel out and get some flowers or candy for your love, or do you admit that you haven’t gotten anything yet and spend the day trapped in close proximity to a very angry but special someone?
