AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – It was a historic weekend for Harvard University’s wrestling team at the 2007 NCAA Championships at the Palace at Auburn Hills.
The Crimson scored its highest point total at the NCAA Championships (29), and three grapplers earned All-American status including 2006 Oxford graduate, J.P. O’Connor.
O’Connor became the first freshman All-American in Harvard team history taking fifth place at 149 pounds. O’Connor dropped a 5-4 decision to number one seed Dustin Schlatter of Minnesota for third place, but bounced back in the fifth-place consolation bout winning 6-4 over Tyler Turner of Wisconsin.
O’Connor finishes his rookie campaign with a 37-8 mark, and was one of just two true freshmen to earn All-America honors this year.
