NEW BERLIN – Villagers in Chenango County cast their ballots for 14 positions today with mayoral races in New Berlin and Earlville garnering the most attention. The polls will be open until 9 tonight.

Incumbent New Berlin Mayor Carol Riley faces off against village Trustee Robert T. Star for the two-year position that pays $3,500 annually. Riley is running for her seventh term.

Uncontested for two-year trustee terms in New Berlin are incumbent Terry Potter and Michael Conroe. The trustee position pays $2,500 a year.

Voters in Earlville must choose between first-term Mayor Toni Campbell and challenger Michael Kicinski for the two-year, $2,500-a-year position.

Three people are running for the two-year, $912-a-year trustee positions: Incumbent Kim Boomhower, Carol Lee and Gerald Hayes. The top two vote-getters will be elected. Incumbent Trustee Sandra Holbrook is not seeking re-election. Incumbent Earlville Justice Frank Faulkner is unopposed for the four-year village justice position.
