NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club presents Carol Bennett Redenbaugh, pianist in a recital titled “At the Fireside with Edward McDowell” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main Street, Norwich.
A native of Norwich, Redenbaugh graduated from Norwich High School in 1965. She may be remembered as Carol Bennett, daughter of Henry R. Bennett of Norwich. For 13 years she studied piano with the late Margaret Hall and was the accompanist for the Norwich High School Choir in performances of Show Boat and South Pacific. She was the recipient of the Monday Evening Club Scholarship for study at the Ithaca College School of Music where she studied piano with Phyllis Pulaski, earning a Bachelor of Music degree in music education in 1969. In addition she studied at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa. with Dr. John Couch and Temple University with Dr. Harvey Wedeen while working on her master’s degree in music education.
She has taught privately in Charlottesville, Virginia and Allentown, Pennsylvania and has been the owner of “Creative Piano by Carol Redenbaugh” for the past 18 years specializing in private and group lessons as well as computer lab. Her students have won prizes in both composition and performance. In 2005 she recorded her first CD, “Two Hands for Alzheimer’s,” a fund-raiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Her affiliations are with the Lehigh Valley PA Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, of which she is a Nationally Certified Teacher, the American College of Musicians, and the PA Federation of Music Clubs. She also is recognized in the 2002 Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
The Monday Evening Musical Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting musical arts through monthly concerts free to the public. Since 1954, free will donations help the club award scholarships to seniors from Chenango County who plan to major in music in college.
