Sherburne welcomes 58th Pageant of Bands

SHERBURNE – The streets of Sherburne will be filled with music and people this weekend for the 58 annual Pageant of the Bands Competition. With over 35 area bands competing this year, the pageant is sure to have something for everyone.

“It’s exciting for the kids to be able to come to a pageant of this size and perform for an audience of this size,” said Sherburne-Earlville Band Director Jeff Manwaring.

The pageant weekend began Thursday with the jazz ensemble competition. The junior competition, C-class and D-class competitions were held on Thursday. The jazz ensemble competition continues Friday, with the B, A, AA, and AAA classes’ competitions being held starting at 4 p.m. The color guard / winter guard competition will also be held on Friday. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school (old) gym.

“Saturday is the big day,” said Manwaring. The concert bands will perform at 9 a.m. The junior high bands will perform in the cafeteria, the D class in the middle school (new) gym, the C class will be in the high school gym, B class will be in the band room, A class will be in the auditorium, AA class will be in the high school gym and AAA class will perform in the new gym.
