Rabies clinics scheduled
CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Department of Public Health has scheduled a series of rabies clinics to be held in various locations throughout Chenango County. Originally, seven clinics were scheduled, but after hearing some complaints the Department of Public Health scheduled an eighth clinic.
Clinics will be held on the following days.
• 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 at the South New Berlin Fire Station.
• 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 at the Smithville Fire Station.
• 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13 at the New Berlin Fire Station.
• 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 at the McDonough Town Garage.
• 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20 at the Columbus Town Garage.
• 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 at the Greene Fire Station.
• 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at the Norwich Fire Station.
• 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 at the Sherburne Fire Station.
• 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at the South Otselic Fire Department.
New York State Law requires rabies vaccinations for all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets four month of age or older. The county will be offering the clinics at no charge to the public.
To obtain a booster for an animal that has previously been vaccinated, vaccination records must be provided. Animals must be contained. All dogs must be on a leash. Cats should be confined in a box, crate or other container.
Animals vaccinated for the first time must be re-vaccinated within one year to qualify for the three year rabies booster shot.
