Partners in crime now facing hard time
NORWICH – The District Attorney’s Office unsealed two indictments in county court Friday morning, charging two young defendants with multiple home invasions and thefts.
Brockton E. Jones, 26, Broome County, was charged with six counts of second degree burglary (class C felony) and six counts of petit larceny. Co-conspirator Liza J. Benjamin, 21, Broome County, is also charged with four counts of second degree burglary and four counts of petit larceny.
The two have also been arrested for a string of home invasions in Broome County as well.
The duo is accused of entering several private residences and stealing a variety of objects and cash. Some of the things they allegedly stole were a $750 Berretta handgun, a global positioning device, jewelry, even rolled coins and change jars.
All the burglaries that took place in Chenango County happened in the Town of Greene or in the Town of Smithville.
Both defendants appeared in court and pleaded not guilty and each was remanded to the county jail on $50,000 bail.
The two defendants were arrested Friday morning just prior to court proceedings.
