Oxford inducts new members into Honor Society

OXFORD – Mrs. Christine Pierce, High School Principal, has announced the top five honor students at Oxford Academy & Central High School. They are listed below alphabetically with their major activities:

Eric Gerald Betts, son of Barry and Kim Betts, Oxford, is President of his class as well as being President of the National Honor Society. He participates in Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band. He has been a member of the track team and has played football for the past four years, serving as captain in his senior year and winning numerous awards in each sport. He represented our school at Boys State and has attended a number of leadership conferences. Eric is a “Big Brother” volunteer and donates his time at the New York state Veteran’s Home.

Patricia Marie Dalglish, daughter of Carolyn Latham, Oxford, is Vice-president of her class and Secretary of the National Honor Society. She participates in the American Legion Oratorical Contest and is very active in all aspects of 4-H, serving as a Teen Council volunteer and Teen Ambassador. Patty has participated in softball throughout high school, winning numerous awards. She has served on the Student-Teacher Liaison Committee, the Shared Decision Making Team, and attended the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.
