NHS names top two grads of 2007

NORWICH – Norwich High School has named its top two students for the Class of 2007, who will serve as Valedictorian and Salutatorian in Saturday’s 6 p.m. commencement exercises at Perry Browne field.

Gabrielle Chwazik-Gee, daughter of Fred Gee and Lorry Chwazik, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. Gabrielle was born and raised in Norwich and attended Holy Family School until she reached the seventh grade. She plays piano, sings and has taken part in the Norwich High School musicals (she was Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast” and Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors”).

Gabrielle swam competitively on the varsity and the YMCA teams. She works as a church organist at the First Baptist Church in Norwich (previously at the Methodist Church in Sherburne) and as a summer lifeguard at Kurt Beyer Pool. She is vice-president of Key Club, president of Musical Club, president of the National Honor Society and Spanish Club president. Following her sophomore year, she went to Europe with the Sound of America National Honor Band and Chorus and had the opportunity to tour six countries for a month.
