Mary Jane Prindle golf tourney rasies money for Hospice
NORWICH – The 2nd Annual “Mary Jane Prindle Memorial Golf Tournament” to benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County was held Friday June 29th, 2007 at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.
The winning team this year consisted of Peggy Parker, Kathy Wagner, Kathy Schmidt, and Linda Howard.
Overall, 120 people attended the tournament, along with the picnic and dance that followed.
Mary Jane was a well known local dental hygienist who died in 2005 from liver cancer. The tournament is an opportunity for Mary Jane’s family, friends, and co-workers to gather to remember her and to raise funds to support the local work of Hospice of Chenango County.
“We’re very pleased to be able to raise funds to help Hospice continue the caring, professional, compassionate, end of life care which they provide to the people of Chenango County,” Tournament Chairperson Walt Prindle said. “Hospice was a tremendous help to our entire family during Mary Jane’s illness and this is an opportunity for us to do something in return.”
Laurie O’Shea, Executive Director of Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County stated, “We are so appreciative that Walt has chosen to honor Mary Jane and Hospice with this annual event.”
In two years the tournament has raised a total of $ 9,200 for Hospice.
