Perry Browne names new principle
NORWICH – Heather Collier, originally of Norwich, took over the position as Perry Browne principal July 1 following the resignation of former Principal Michelle Donlon roughly four months ago. Donlon decided to pursue a position at Roundout Valley in Accord.
Collier was a teacher and health coordinator North of Norwich in the district of Belleville Henderson in Belleville. Growing up in Norwich and a product of its school system, she said she always held on to the desire to come back to the district and work. “I always knew I wanted to come back, but I did not know I would come back as principal,” she said.
Collier was a health and wellness coordinator, teacher and leader in the smaller district in which she was previously employed. She recently attended a national conference on wellness and was awarded Teacher of the Year in wellness in 2003.
Norwich City School District Superintendent Gerard O’Sullivan said he is pleased to welcome Collier back, and he is confident she is the right fit for the Perry Browne. “She has been working diligently since starting, and she is going to do a good job for the children there,” he said.
