Investigation beginning to validate self-defense story

SHERBURNE – Police have confirmed the identity of the body they uncovered as that of a Pittsfield man who was killed during an attempted drug robbery.

Medical reports identified Joshua D. Richheimer, 32, was killed by a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Robert R. Reynolds, 46, and Nicholas S. Simonds, 21 of Pleasant Valley Road, Sherburne have both been charged with tampering with evidence for attempting to hide the body. Reynolds will be facing additional drug and weapon charges, said police.

“We are investigating to see if it was a justifiable homicide. Some of what we have uncovered does implicate the deceased as the aggressor,” said Loughren. Police released a statement Wednesday saying their investigation indicates Richheimer as the aggressor in the attack and that he was attempting to rob Reynolds.
