Earlville Opera House welcomes Tish Hinojosa Saturday night

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House’s summer of spectacular artists continues with the incomparable Tish Hinojosa. She brings her original combination of Mexican folk, country music, and touches of pop to the EOH Main Stage at 8 p.m. this Saturday. Tish Hinojosa is known for her warm and crystal pure voice that resonates with emotion adding an overall richness to the delivery of her songs.  The line up for this Saturday’s performance is Tish Hinojosa – guitar and vocals, Marvin Dykhuis – guitar and mandolin and Glenn Kawamoto – bass.  Marvin Dykhus is known for his wizardry on guitar and mandolin that has earned repeated ovations.
Born Leticia Hinojosa in San Antonio, Texas, this songwriter soaked up the traditional Mexican music of her parents, the area’s country sounds, and the rock & roll of the 1960s. Tish has released twelve albums and toured North and South America and Europe. While becoming a loved artist on the Latin and folk scene, Tish has also maintained a keen interest in social activism, particularly in Latino and women’s issues.
Tish is currently recording a new album in Europe this summer and will showcase many of her new songs at the Opera House. Tish’s most recent previous album A Heart Wide Open is composed of songs that have held spaces in Tish’s heart for years from her own family’s stories. The songs speak of love’s light and dark shades and lessons learned on war, struggle, and peace. These compelling concepts are framed by jangly 60’s electric guitar work, laid-back country, jazz, rhythmic Latin, and even reggae. The album is a showcase of Tish’s life and loves, making it extremely powerful.
“Her songs are richly detailed slices of life...Hinojosa’s is a strong, poetic, sensual, and conscious voice.” – Spin Magazine
Tickets are $13 for the general public, $11 for EOH members, and $8 for students.  The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift.  Come early to visit the East and West Gallery exhibitions of national quilts and our Arts Café!  The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves delicious desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, as well as hot coffee/tea. For more information, or to reserve your seats, call (315) 691-3550 or order online at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
