Norwich repeats as Pony League champs

NORWICH – Norwich repeated as Otsenango Pony League champions last week beating Oneonta, 19-3, to finish a 13-0 season and extend its winning streak to 26 games.
The league was again split into four teams and had 23 teams. “This was great for the kids and they are very coachable,” said coach Ken Law. “It’s been a fun year.”
Norwich outscored its opponents 136-20 and had four players bat at least .500 this season including Mike Moon (.555), Taylor Wright (.523), Josh Borfitz (.512), and Paddy Law (.500). Collectively, Norwich finished with a .432 batting average.
The bulk of the pitching was done this season by Chris Hotaling, a three-year starter, Mike Moon, and Taylor Wright – another three-year starter. Law and Richie Bonney were also three-year starters on the squad.
Law has expressed an interest to start a junior American Legion team in Norwich. Any interest in helping form this squad, please call Law at 336-6201.
