Norwich 226, Maine-Endwell 229
NORWICH – While Norwich’s scores were not astoundingly low, the top-to-bottom finishes were consistent enough to yield an opening-match win Friday against Maine-Endwell.
Following in the footsteps of older brother Peter – who paced the Tornado a year ago – Frankie Somich shot a team-low 42 to earn overall medalist honors over the par-35 front nine at Canasawacta Country Club.
“Our players are pretty even down the lineup, but we’re awfully young,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “This is a great start for us and we’re excited to hold our own today.”
John Mattingly shot a 44, Jacob Kelly and Brian Carson carded 46s, and Eric Walling added a 48 for Norwich, who play at Sus Valley Tuesday.
