6 On The Square presents Ron Palmer and Mark Sherwood

OXFORD – Local favorites, Ron Palmer and Mark Sherwood, have been wowing everyone with their incredible instrumentals. You may have seen them perform at the Open Mic during the 6OTS Grand Opening Weekend, or most recently at Colorscape in Norwich. The two Chenango County guitarists, each with his own unique style, have been collaborating since 2004 and have found that together each tune they play is better than the one before. Back by popular demand, they will be appearing at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 6 On The Square.
Palmer, 71, is well known for his guitar work years ago with singer/songwriter Harry Chapin. As a member of Harry Chapin’s original band, he was able to enhance the music in his own style and gained much experience. Sherwood, 32, is the frontman for the blues-rock band Midline Driver. Together these two very talented guitarists are brilliantly fusing jazz to classical to shades of rock.
The duo will be performing cuts from their new, self released CD “Launch”. They’ve collaborated on primarily instrumentals with titles such as, “Dalia and the Time Warp,” “Fast Ride to a Slow Space” and “To Build a Better Jupiter.” “Fast Trip,” is the exception, a playful lyrical endeavor. In addition to these new original works, they may be inspired to play whatever strikes their musical fancy at the time.
Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information. Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12, until the day of the show; $15 on the day of the show.

On Oct. 5 will be Pat Wictor and Joe Crookston; Oct. 6 will be Panhandle, led by Oxford’s own Nate Gross; and on Oct. 20 (a changed date) will be the Jamie Notarthomas Trio; all three shows at 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30 pm.
Open Mic nights are every other Thursday at 7:30 p.m., - the next will be Sept. 20 and, new: Drumming Night; which begins on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the Palmer-Sherwood performance, 6 On The Square is currently featuring an art exhibit of quilts by the Chenango Piecemakers Quilt Guild.
