Fire Prevention Week starts Sunday
CHENANGO COUNTY – The public is encouraged to attend two open house events this Sunday at both the Smithville and Preston Fire Departments.
The open houses are part of Fire Prevention Week, which begins Sunday.
The Smithville open house and pancake breakfast will run from 7 to 11 a.m. The Chenango County Bureau of Fire Communications Trailer will also be on display.
The Preston Open House and barbecue begins at 11 a.m. A “Fire Prevention Trailer” will be on display.
The theme of this year’s fire prevention week is “Practice your escape plan!”

• North Norwich – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10
• Smyrna – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 10
• Norwich – 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. Fire Prevention Trailer on display.
• Oxford – 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. Fire Prevention Trailer on display.
• Pharsalia – 5 p.m. Saturday Oct. 13. Dinner provided.
