Troopers investigate Halloween shooting
COLUMBUS – New York State Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a suspicious shooting on Halloween in the Town of Columbus.
“We are still working on our investigation at this time and all we can acknowledge was that there was a non-fatal shooting in Columbus and that we are investigating its circumstances,” said Senior Investigator Lori A. Hochdanner of the New York State Police.
The agency issued a brief press release Tuesday saying that the troopers, along with the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, were in the midst of an investigation. The incident took place in the Town of Columbus on County Rt. 41.
An unidentified 20 year-old man was shot by a handgun at around 11:30 p.m., Oct. 31. Chenango County 911 dispatch received a report of the accidental shooting and police responded. The 20-year-old had been shot in the wrist.
