‘Artistic Discovery’ winners named

NORWICH – Last month the annual “Artistic Discovery” student art show, sponsored by Congressman Michael Arcuri, showcased artwork created by 84 high school students from around the county.
The work, which included drawings, paintings and ceramic scupltures, was on display at the Chenango County Council of the Arts gallery, 27 W. Main St.
Schools participating in this year’s Artistic Discovery are Sherburne-Earlville, Norwich, Afton, Oxford and Unadilla Valley. The exhibit was coordinated by Norwich High School art teacher Wayne Franklin and was juried by Carl Houghton and Lynne Berry.
Winners, pictured below, will go on to compete with others from across New York in Utica, and one winner’s work will be chosen to hang in the halls of Congress for a year.
Local sponsors for Artistic Discovery are Peter and Virginia Chaplin, the George and Elisabeth Mead Foundation and Golden Artist Colors.
