OXFORD – Oxford won back-to-back contests this weekend, the latter a 10-inning victory over Harpursville Saturday.

Nick Gates drew a walk in the tenth inning, and came around for the game-winner after a wild pitch. Robert Amor led Oxford with four hits, Alex Champlin had two hits and two ribbies, while Jared Hueth picked up two hits.

The Blackhawks never trailed against Sidney, and finished with an error-free contest for the first time this season. Gates had three hits and three runs scored, Josh Jordan also had three hits and two RBI, while Amor and Champlin picked up two hits apiece.

Nate Sortino pitched six innings giving up three runs for the victory. “We hit it pretty well (against Sidney) and I think their pitching staff was a little depleted,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer. “I was pretty happy the way we bounced back after the loss to Deposit. It was probably our best game of the year.”
