BID helps keep flower baskets hanging

NORWICH – The Norwich Garden Club met for its first meeting of the New Year at the home of Linda Lee Giltner last week. The speaker was Judy Sellers of South New Berlin, the vice-president of the National Primrose Society.
A special presentation was made to the Garden Club by Pegi LoPresti of the Norwich Business Improvement District. The Trustees of BID voted to give the Garden Club $1,500 yearly toward the hanging baskets that the Garden Club has always placed on the poles in downtown Norwich. As the cost of the baskets increases, donations are always welcome to help defray the cost. These donations can be sent to Patricia Whitmore, Treasurer, Norwich Garden Club, 52 Pleasant Street, Norwich, NY and are very appreciated.
The big fundraiser by the Garden Club for their planters is the “Green Elephant Tent Sale” June 6 and 7 at 110 North Broad St. from 9 to 4 each day. Plants grown by members will be for sale as well as many other items to purchase.
New members are always welcome ... contact Marilyn Kochersperger at 336-1669.
