Norwich Dollars for Scholars Week Kicks off May 12th

NORWICH – Norwich Dollars for Scholars will be presenting a week of fun activities to further its scholarship program for students living in the City school district.  Come on out and do your part to support educational opportunities for local students, and have some fun at the same time.
The highlight of the week will come on Saturday, May 17 in East Side Park in downtown Norwich with a Golf Ball Drop, car wash and Brooks Chicken barbeque. If you haven’t seen two thousand golf balls dropped from the fire department’s tallest ladder truck, it’s worth the trip down. Of course, it’s even more interesting if you’ve purchased one of the $1 raffle tickets and your numbered golf ball falls closest to the pin.  The grand prize winner takes home $500.
While you’re in the park you can pick up some famous Brooks BBQ chicken cooked right on site … always delicious! Carter Brightman will be providing DJ services for the afternoon and there will also be face painting offered. The golf balls will be dropped at 3pm sharp, and remember you need not be present to win - but it sure is fun to watch!
In addition to all the activities on Saturday there are several other opportunities to support the Norwich Dollars for Scholars program. Christman Motors has once again volunteered to donate $50 back to Dollars for Scholars for every new or used vehicle purchased from May 12th through May 18th. Nina’s Restaurant will be donating back 20% of all eat and and take out orders on Thursday, May 15, if the customer presents the coupon from the Dollars for Scholars flier.  Coupons are also available in the Norwich Pennysaver.  And the Canasawacta Country Club will be donating 25% of all greens fees directly back to the Dollars for Scholars organization.
Make plans now to participate in as many ways as you can – each time you do, you will be supporting local students in pursuit of higher education. In addition to these opportunities during Dollars For Scholars Week, the organization welcomes financial contributions from businesses, individuals, service clubs, reunion classes and everyone else! Norwich Dollars for Scholars also has an endowment fund for those considering estate planning or larger gifts.
