NORWICH – The mother of the man who was shot and killed while allegedly attempting to rob the home of a Sherburne drug dealer spoke out during a bail hearing for the man on Friday.

Robert R. Reynolds, 46, of 476 Pleasant Valley Road, Sherburne, appeared with his lawyer Scott Clippinger in front of Chenango County Court Judge W. Howard Sulllivan to request a bail reduction.

“Mr. Reynolds has been incarcerated awaiting sentencing for some time. He’s already entered his plea,” Clippinger told the court.

Reynolds has been incarcerated since police discovered the body of a missing Pittsfield man on his Sherburne property. Joshua Richheimer, 32, was killed while allegedly attempting to rob Reynolds’ home at gunpoint in July of 2007. Reynolds claims he killed Richheimer in self defense. Reynolds had earlier entered into a plea deal with the District Attorney’s office. He pleaded guilty to second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana. In exchange for the lesser charge, he agreed to testify against Richheimer’s accomplice, James F. Bush, Burdick Medbury Road, Town of Norwich. Reynolds faces one to two and a half years in state prison.
