Kelly Miller Circus comes to Norwich
NORWICH – The action under the “Big Top” will be in full swing Sunday as the Kelly Miller Circus rolls into Norwich to host two afternoon shows.
The circus is celebrating its 70th year in operation and was founded during the Depression. The circus last visited Norwich in 2005. Sponsoring the event this year is The Place in Norwich.
The circus is expected to arrive Sunday morning at the Chenango County Fairgrounds and organizers will be ready to perform for shows at 2 and 5 p.m.
A variety of circus entertainers will unload the animals and equipment at 7:30 a.m.. The public is invited to watch as elephants raise the “Big Top” between 8:30 and 9 a.m.
Board of Directors President and fundraising Chairman Jim Butterfield explained that profits made go directly to help the children at The Place. “The overhead to bring the circus in is only 10 percent. Up to 90 percent of the profits generated go directly to the kids,” he said.
