Man sent to jail on felony DWI charge
COLUMBUS – Charles D. Aragona, 52, of New Berlin, was charged with DWAI/drugs, a misdemeanor, and a felony DWI charge following a traffic incident in the Town of Columbus Wednesday.
New York State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle accident where the defendant was allegedly found to be operating under the influence of drugs. Assistant District Attorney Stephen Dunshee said Judge W. Howard Sullivan acted on behalf of the local Town of Columbus judge at time of arraignment Wednesday afternoon. The ADA said also that the felony charge of DWI was imposed after leaning the defendant had a prior DWI offense with in the past 10 years.
Aragona was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Columbus court in August.
