Dr. Cicoria to perform for Monday Evening Musical Club

NORWICH – For the opening concert season 2008/09, the Monday Evening Musical Club proudly presents Dr. Tony Cicoria, pianist, Monday Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main St., Norwich.

Tony Cicoria, a practicing board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon, is Chief of the Medical Staff and Chief of Orthopedics at Chenango Memorial Hospital and Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at SUNY Upstate Medical School, in Syracuse. Dr. Cicoria’s musical career began rather remarkably when he was struck by lightning in 1994 while speaking on a public telephone during a family reunion near Albany. Shortly thereafter he developed in insatiable desire to hear and to play the piano. Around the same time, music started coming to him ... first in a dream, some of which ultimately contributed to the original compositions featured in this program. Dr. Cicoria self-taught from 1995-1997 before starting formal music instruction with Sandra McKane, Hartwick College, in 1998.
