WINDSOR – Norwich welcomed back midfielder Elisha Eddy, and the junior all-star had three assists to top scorer Sarah Bonnell in the Tornado’s shutout win Wednesday.
Eddy went down with a concussion midway through the second game of the season, and was cleared to play this week. “Our team just draws off (Eddy), and it gives our whole team more confidence,” said Norwich coach Jeremy Bolton.
Bonnell scored all of her goals in the first half to give her seven tallies on the season. The first was a through ball from Eddy four minutes into the game, the second after a cross, and the third was a rebound off an Eddy shot that caromed off the post.
Tatyana Ithier made three saves to notch her first shutout.

CANASTOTA – Brianna Vibbard had a second straight multi-goal game, and Hope Brown added a tally for the Marauders, who won at Canastota Tuesday evening.
“We had better focus in the second half and we created scoring chances galore,” said S-E assistant coach Nigel Seddon.
Caitlynn Adams made six saves for the shutout.

SOUTH OTSELIC – David Cerasani scored all three of his goals in the first half to lead the Vikings past Brookfield in a shutout win Wednesday.
Cerasani had his first goal about 10 minutes into the game. Dustin Davis and Adam Duell added insurance goals in the second half. “This was probably our best game of the year as far as passing and moving the ball,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We got the ball into space where we could do something with it.”
OV (2-1, 3-2) plays at Madison Friday.

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville mentor Mike Rodriguez said Wednesday’s tie contest with Sauquoit Valley was the first scoreless game in all of his years of coaching.
“One of Sauquoit’s better players was not available today, and that allowed us to focus in on their other better player,” Rodriguez said. “They probably had three great opportunities, and Caleb (Brown) came up with some huge saves for us.”
S-E (1-1-1, 1-5-1) is at Waterville Friday.

SHERBURNE – Morrisville-Eaton dealt the Marauders their third straight loss scoring midway through the second half Wednesday.
Following a penalty corner, Lindsay Mosher deflected the ball into the cage for the game’s lone tally. “Today was an improvement and our play in the middle of the field was better,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “We’re making adjustments, and it’s taking a while to get the right people in the right places.”
The Marauders (3-3) play at Canastota Tuesday.

HANCOCK – Oxford dropped its second game this week losing to a Hancock team that made the most of its scoring chances.
Jessica Wadeson scored just two minutes into the second half, and Maria Newman made it a two-goal lead for the Wildcats at the 10-minute mark. “We were so close to scoring in the first half, but we weren’t able to finish,” said Oxford coach Melissa Chrystie. “Scoring has been a season-long struggle. Hancock is definitely improved over last year.”

GREENE – In perhaps its best opportunity to qualify for the Section IV team tournament, the Tornado stumbled against Chenango Forks, Wednesday at Genegantslet Golf Club.
All five Forks players shot in the 36 to 38 range over the par-35 front nine. “Chenango Forks has a good team, and I think that was a bit intimidating for our young crew,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham. “We started badly, and that’s tough for us to overcome.”
Jacob Kelly shot a 38 to pace the Tornado, who host Windsor on Tuesday.

Girls’ Tennis

Owego 4, Norwich 3
NORWICH – Owego lost two of the three three-set matches, but claimed wins in the top three singles matchups to stop Norwich’s three-match winning streak Wednesday.
Julie Hutchinson, Laura Dragon, and Abby Wunder took wins in singles for the Indians. Norwich’s Jessica Lerner put Norwich on the board with her seventh win in as many matches, and the first doubles tandem of Krissie Collier and Katie Orioli also remained unbeaten. Emily Stewart and Kristi Orioli outlasted their opposition in three sets, but it was not enough for the Tornado (4-3).
“They are pretty solid in singles, we just needed to bear down a little more,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “I’m not disappointed at all in the way we played, I’m just disappointed that we lost.”
Norwich is at Maine-Endwell Friday.

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley captured its third victory in five matches winning two of three singles pairings and sweeping the doubles competitions.
Melissa Campbell and Lindsay Avolio were winners in straight sets for the Storm netters. Amber Potter and Hannah Benson along with Amanda Button and Abby Grace took wins in doubles.

Cross Country

S-E beats host Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND – In a five-way dual meet at Westmoreland Wednesday, Sherburne-Earlville’s boys narrowly edged the home club winning 27-28. In the rest of the meet, the Marauders were nipped by Adirondack and Hamilton, while perennial power Sauquoit Valley finished as the overall team winner.
“It was a little cooler today and a flat course, but this was a league meet, and it meant more to step it up,” said S-E co-head coach Anne Geary. “This gave us points toward our Center State Conference position.”
S-E’s boys team had three tightly-packed competitors finishing under 20 minutes led by Noah Huff (11) in 19:18, Dan Stanton (12), 19:21, and Dan Palmiter (14), 19:26. Doug Parks (21:37) and Dan DuBois (22:30) completed S-E’s team scoring.
Sofeia Eddy finished fifth out of 35 runners to lead four S-E girls and Jasmine Huff fought off an injury to finish seventh in 23:09.
The Marauders race at New Hartford Saturday.
