Norwich picks up second STAC victory of season

WHITNEY POINT – Norwich won its second STAC contest this season and picked up a third win in five games with a shutout victory at Whitney Point Tuesday.

Jamie Nassar scored her first goal of the season 15 minutes into the second half. Sarah Bonnell pushed the ball into the right corner and drew two Point defenders. She made a crossing pass to Nassar, who was within point-blank range to put the ball away.

“We’ve started to come together the past few games,” said Norwich coach Jeremy Bolton. “We’re playing better and gaining more confidence each game.”

Norwich (3-8) is at Chenango Forks Thursday.

Greene 4, Windsor 0

WINDSOR – Greene’s offensive firepower was racheted up Tuesday against Windsor as the unbeaten Trojans prepare for a rematch at Marathon Thursday.

Christine Conroe was involved in all four goals scoring the first at 21:57 after a pass from Erin Smith. Conroe had two goals and two assists, Smith had one goal as well, and Andrea Day tallied. Smith just missed two other goals hitting a post on hard drives in each half. “I thought we passed it better today than we have all season,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “We are starting to make our connections. We had a lot of good scoring chances today.”
