Valley Heights’ soccer teams earn a win and a tie
SOUTHWEST OSWEGO –The Valley Heights Christian Academy Crusaders traveled north to play the Southwest Oswego Royals Tuesday. The Lady Crusaders came home with their third tie of the season, 0-0, and the boys picked up a 6-1 victory.
The girls’ game was a defensive struggle. Crusaders had three first-half shots and six second-half shots. Bethany Hinman 11 total saves for the Crusaders.
The Royals were first on the scoreboard in the boys’ game getting a goal by Ryan Chartrand as he beat the defense up the middle at 26.41.
VHCA then went on to score six unanswered goals. Luke Halberg scored three in the first half at 24:37, 15:29 and 8:50. Reid Rose opened the second-half scoring at 25:41 when he headed in a cornerkick by Halberg. Halberg scored for the Crusaders at 21:08, and Andrew Hunt closed out the scoring at 15:34 assisted by Ryan Rose.
Next up for the Crusaders is an away game at Cortland Thursday, Oct. 9. The girls begin at 3:30 p.m. and the boys follow at 5 p.m. Saturday, the Crusaders host Penn Yan with the girls’ game at 11 a.m. and the boys at 12:30 p.m.
