BROOKFIELD – Otselic Valley won its second four-goal shutout this week on the road against Brookfield Wednesday.
Adam Duell David Cerasani and Dusty Davis tallied in the first half for the Vikings (7-3, 9-5). “We passed and moved the ball better today than we have in some time,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “It was a small field, but we controlled play. There are stretches in games where we don’t control the ball, but tonight we did a good job of maintaining possession and moving without the ball.”
Nate Stark had OV’s lone tally in the second half.

“We identified (Spadine) as the guy that has killed us before,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey. “For some reason, we left him to play another guy, and he would get the ball back, take it in, and shoot.”
Norwich plays Greene Friday at 5 p.m. in the Oxford Blackhawks Tournament.

Amanda Peek and Kate Fagan scored in the first half – Fagan assisting on Peek’s goal – for the two-goal halftime advantage.
Emily Sugar, normally the Storm’s goal keeper, saw field time and tallied her first goal of the season. Hannah Johnson’s direct kick hit a goal post, and Sugar capitalized to tuck the ball away with 6 1/2 minutes left. “We distributed the ball and the scoring, and the defense worked hard. It was a great team win,” said UV coach Chris Bieniek.
UV hosts Walton at 7 p.m. Friday night.

Sierra Kiss and Meghan Gaffney scored two goals over the first 8 1/2 minutes of the second half to up a one-goal halftime lead to three. Bridget Irwin tallied S-E’s first goal at 20 minutes, and Gzam Kocak drew the Marauders to within one in the final two minutes.
“We had some good chances, but did not make the most of them,” said S-E assistant coach Nigel Seddon. “We weren’t dominated, but they had the better passing team today.”
S-E plays at Cooperstown Friday.

DELHI – Coming toward the end of the regular season, Oxford constructed its best offensive performance to date.
Scoring three goals in each half, the Blackhawks rolled to a blowout win. “We definitely were at full throttle today,” said Oxford coach Melissa Chrystie. “We’ve won some games, but never put up this kind of point production.”
Jenna Farwell opened the scoring with 20 minutes left in the first half, and Jessica Martin followed that up with a goal two minutes later. Danielle Murphy had the third goal over a nine-minute period to create a three-goal bulge at halftime.
Martin and Murphy tacked on their second goals of the game over the final 30 minutes, and Amanda Marks completed the Blackhawks’ scoring.
Oxford (6-7) hosts Hancock Friday.

WEST WINFIELD – In a four-way competition against Mt. Markham, Remsen, and Old Forge, the Sherburne-Earlville boys saw time drops from every competitor, and picked up a dual win over Old Forge in the process.
Dan Palmiter was second out of 18 runners timing an 18:56. Also picking up best times over a 3.1-mile course were Doug Parks (20:38), Matt Taylor (21:26), and Jeff Verry (22:45).
Sofeia Eddy led S-E’s girls timing a 22:06 to place second out of nine harriers. “Their goal was to push themselves toward individual best times,” said S-E co-head coach Anne Geary. “Knowing that the league championship meet is a week away, it was important to focus on that. In my opinion, it was a great race day for Sherburne-Earlville.”

COOPERSTOWN – At Cooperstown Tuesday, Afton/B-G/Oxford/Harpursville continued its time drops, and had a pair of wins from Erin Daly.
Without the benefit of starting blocks, Daly still managed a 30.97 to win the 50-yard freestyle. She also competed on the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay.
“Our young kids are getting some big time drops, and Erin (Daly) continues to improve,” said Makos coach Kevin Diefenbacher.

Cassie Armstrong won her second match for Greene in as many days at second singles defeating Kelsey Patterson, 6-4, 6-3.
Melissa Campbell won a tight two-set match over the Trojans’ Mara Duenas in a one-point UV win on Tuesday.
Campbell won 7-6, 7-6 with both sets won in tiebreakers.
The two clubs split the doubles matchups, with Armstrong (Greene) winning at second singles, and Lindsay Avolio (UV) capturing third singles.
