Norwich resident turns 100

NORWICH – Louise Elfeldt celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008. A party was given in her honor at the Chenango Valley Home. The celebration was attended by friends and families. Mayor Joseph Maiurano presented Louise with a proclamation.

Louise has lived at the Chenango Valley Home since October of 2000. She was married in 1935 to Edwin Elfeldt, who passed away in 1988. Most of her life was spent in New Berlin and South Edmeston, where Louise worked at Kraft Foods from 1950-1970. She was very active in her church and community.

Louise enjoyed sewing and embroidery, always cooked and baked, making doll birthday cakes for her granddaughters and nieces. Holiday dinners were a very special time for Louise. Louise and her sister Alice Crandall, were born in Pittsfield. They were fortunate to be born into a family who were proud farmers.
