Bainbridge stages ‘A Fine Monster You Are’ this weekend
BAINBRIDGE – Take a touch of “Arsenic and Old Lace” antics. Mix in “Munsters” memories with some “Addams Family” abnormalities. Simmer slowly with ‘Scooby” silliness and you’re just about ready for the next Out of the Woodwork Players production.
On Oct. 17, 18 and 19, the players open their 20th anniversary season in the Bainbridge Town Hall Theatre with the Monk Ferris feature “A Fine Monster You Are!”
This “creepy-crawly comedy,” set in a sometimes sinister Victorian mansion, moves through the twists and turns of mystery with a cast including some real “characters.” Rich, old recluse Emily Holbrook, played by Dorothy Rudolph, is egged on by aging housekeeper Agatha (Libby Marshall) while screening job seeking secretary-to-be Suzette, portrayed by Sierra Sherman. Screening becomes a real scream when details of an age-old secret start a series of events involving doubtful Dr. Starbuck (Don Stanley), medium Madame Calladine (Sue Szigeti), Suzette’s wanna-be betrothed Corky Miller (Chad Brown) and former college roommate Flax Dempster, (Dorene Hitt).
