New Berlin youths arrested on felony charges

NEW BERLIN – Two juveniles, ages 12 and 13, were arrested by Town of New Berlin Police Oct. 14 and charged with felony burglary.
Police said they arrested the youths after a week long investigation into a burglary that took place in the Village of New Berlin.
The two juveniles were charged with second degree burglary, a class C felony, for allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s house through a back door while the occupants were at work.
Police said the home owners called police after discovering the damaged back door and several missing items including, $30 to $40 worth of change, a gold cross necklace, a box of condoms and a bag of Hershey chocolates.
The two youths charged in the crime were given tickets to appear at the Chenango County Probations’ Department and were later released into the custody of their parents.
Police said none of the items or cash were recovered.
