DCMO BOCES names new district superintendent
NORTH NORWICH – A special meeting of the DCMO BOCES Board of Education was held in mid-October to appoint William P. Tammaro as the district’s new superintendent, effective Jan. 5.
A native of Corning, Tammaro received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in education from the University of Rochester. He began his career in various counseling positions in the Watkins Glen, Corning and Waverly school districts. He was also the guidance counselor/principal in Greenwood for six years and then served as the middle school principal in Penn Yan from 1994-1997.
After serving as the superintendent in Sharon Springs from 1997-2000, Tammaro was superintendent of the Moravia Central School, a 1,200-student district near Auburn in Cayuga County.
