The Place KIDS program holding Thanksgiving Food Drive
NORWICH – The KIDS Program at The Place is holding a Thanksgiving canned food drive. They are looking for donations of non perishable food items such as vegetables, cranberry sauce, pie filling, stuffing mix, canned fruit and much more.
“We understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner. It was important to us to have the children in our program help bring Thanksgiving to families in need,” said Kayla Montano, assistant to the KIDS program.
All donations can be brought to The Place located at 20 East Main Street in Norwich between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 21. The KIDS Program will be matching all donations that are made to the food drive.
“We saw this as an opportunity to get the children involved with community service. We’re able to get the kids excited about helping others and that’s really what Thanksgiving is all about,” said Montano.
On Monday Nov. 24, the KIDS Program will be working collaboratively with the United Church of Christ to put together over 100 Thanksgiving baskets for families within the community. The youth and staff of the KIDS Program would like to invite you to join their food drive by donating a non perishable food item today.
If you have any questions about the food drive please contact Kayla Montano at 336-9696. “Together we can bring a Thanksgiving feast to everyone’s table.”
