Maiurano appointed to Council of Mayors’ legislative committee

NORWICH – City of Norwich Mayor Joseph Maiurano has been appointed Legislative Representative for the Finance Policy Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM), and as such will also serve on NYCOM’s Legislative Committee. Mayor John McDonald of the City of Cohoes, president of the Conference of Mayors, made the appointment.

As a member of the Legislative Committee, Maiurano will be directly involved in developing and ratifying NYCOM’s legislative program for the upcoming 2009 legislative session in Albany. Additionally, once the legislative session is underway, he will work with the other Legislative Committee members and NYCOM’s entire membership to secure the enactment of bills favorable to local taxpayers. NYCOM’s legislative priorities for 2009 are determined in November, forwarded to the Governor’s Office as he prepares the 2009-2010 Executive Budget, and then shared with members of the State Legislature after the release of the Executive Budget.
