Sherburne Lions Club hosts Thanksgiving dinner
SHERBURNE – For more 20 years, the Sherburne Lions Club has been coming together in the holiday season to host a free Thanksgiving dinner, and that tradition will continue this year.
Lions Club members and community volunteers will be doing their part to spread the holiday cheer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, at the United Methodist Church on Chapel Street in Sherburne.
One Lions Club member explained that members look forward to the Thanksgiving event all year. Generally, the event sees almost 100 percent participation from club members; however this year, some of the members will be out of town. Luckily, community volunteers, including a number of local high school students, have stepped up to fill the need.
The Lions Club started the annual Thanksgiving dinner 22 years ago, in an attempt to help those who are alone or in need during the holiday season. The club offers a full Thanksgiving dinner, complete with turkey and all the trimmings. Members also arrange transportation and deliveries for those who are not able to make it to the church.
